Press ReleaseFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEKayla E. Pratt has been chosen as a Student Ambassador to the UK this Summer for 21 days.Kayla Pratt a 15 yr. old girl from Cleveland, UT, has been chosen to travel with the People to People Student Ambassador Program on a Celtic Cultures' Educational Adventure and to study in the United Kingdom countries of: England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.Cleveland, UT, April 23, 2012: Kayla is a bright, fun- hearted, caring, loving, hard working 15 year old. Her most favorite activities would be playing the flute in her school band, being president of her local Government Youth Council, participating in FCCLA, Upward Bound, and Gearing Up. Her favorite classes at school are band, math, and FACs. She enjoys hanging out with her friends and family, as well as, listening to music and taking pictures. Her future plans include going to college for photography and also studying to get a degree in dentistry and oral care. She would like to become a billionaire one day, in order to be able to help others around the world and in her community. She enjoys making people smile and laugh and tries to be a friend to everyone. She is very helpful and willing to serve others.
When Kayla learned that she was nominated to be a Student Ambassador for the United States of America, she became really excited for the opportunity to go overseas and learn new cultures, as well as, meeting new and exciting people. She knew this would look great on any college application and set her apart from other students. She knew this was her chance to really be able to expand herself and do some independent growing. What better way is there to learn, than with first-hand experiences? "I have long believed, as have many before me, that peaceful relations between nations require mutual respect between individuals," said President Dwight D. Eisenhower. He put the ideal behind these words into practice when he launched the People to People initiative in 1956. Since that time, U.S. presidents have served as the honorary chairman of People to People International.
As President John F. Kennedy so eloquently said, "The nature of People to People activities is as varied as the individuals involved. The housewife whose recipe contains the yeast of kindness, the soldier whose arms embrace homeless waifs, the doctor who heals with humility, all assert a single theme—the power of people, acting as individuals, to respond imaginatively to the world's need for peace."
